The European Geoparks celebrate
The Natural History Museum of Lesvos petrified Forest organises a month full with events around Lesvos petrified forest in joint with the association "the friends of the petrified Forest", daily, from 7 May up to 5 June 2004. The events are organised in the frames of Feast of the European Geoparks, a new institution, in which participate all the European geoparks appearing and electing the unique geological heritage of European Continent, the International Day of Museums of (18 May), the World Day of Environment of (5 June), the "Night of Museums of" (20 May) and the celebration of the 2006 as the year of Olive and Olive oil.
Photographic exposition of drained plants.
Mr Ilias Mefyris organises a photographic exposition of drained plants at the Natural History Museum of Lesvos Petrified Forest. The exposition will be entertained from the 4th until 14th of April in the Centre of Information in Mitilini, and then will be transported in the installations of the Museum in Sigri from April 16 till June 5.
The report includes impressive photographs with some of the most characteristic types of Lesvos flora and compositions with drained plants in tables.
Lesvos is considered one of the richest in flora and biodiversity islands and it has been calculated that exist over 1400 set (species and subspecies) plants. In this make contributed a lot of factors, as the climate, the morphology of soil, the variety of rocks, the geographic place, and the presence of many permanent and precarious wetlands, the long-lasting human effect and others. Characteristic is the differentiation in the appearance of plants from region in region of Lesvos, particularly from Eastern to the western, from the mountainous to the coastal etc, but also from season to season.

The dancing student association ORPHEUS of Mitilini academic unit of the Aegean University invites you in the 1st Academic Festival of Traditional dances, organised with the support of the natural education Office and sports in the frames of growth of action and cultural contacts of institutions of third degree education. The event will be realised in the Municipal theatre of Mitilini on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 of April 2006. Opening Hour 20:00.
The student association Orpheus of Mitilini Academic unit of University Aegean was founded in 2001. At all the interval of it's operation, has varied cultural activity, with the organisation and it's attendance in crowd of events so much in Lesvos island as other places of Greece and abroad.
