Molyvos Molivos (officially Mithimna), 61Km from Mytilini, is arguably the most beautiful village on Lesvos. Tiers of sturdy, red-tiled houses mount the slopes between the picturesque harbor and the castle, some standing defensively with their rear walls to the sea. The perimeter wall and highest bastions of the Byzantine-Genoese castle provide interesting rambles and views of Turkey across the strains. In Molyvos you can try to gain admission to the Greek-build Krallis and Yiannakos mansions or the municipal art gallery occupying the former residence of local novelist Argyris Eftaliotis.
The local archeological museum in the basement of the town hall, features finds from ancient Mithimna. Besides numerous sea-life-encrusted amphorae, there is a clutch of blue Roman beads to ward off the evil eye.
3Km northeast of Molivos lays the beach of Eftalou with its thermal baths; it is built just in frond of the sea waves under the Ottoman-era domed structure. The temperature of the spa is 43-46 C. About 1Km east, there is a little beach, hryssi Akti, with a decent tavern just above it.

Eftalou is a coastal region 4 Km East of Molyvos, there literally in the waves can be found the healing radiogenic source with temperature of water up to 46C. Skala Skamnia belongs to the municipality of Mithimna, it is a small fishing village at the top north part of Lesvos, it is the birthplace of the novelist Stratis Myrivilis (1890 – 1969) who wrote the novel Panagia Gorgona, inspired by the small church of Madonna which has been build on a small rock next to the sea. Skala Skamnias is one of the most tourist places on the island with many rooms for rent, excellent taverns near the sea serving fresh sea food and beautiful small beaches for swimming. This village is preserved, traditional settlement with wonderful cobbled roads and fantastic view to the Aegean Sea and the Turkish coast.
